The first Kent Cross Country League race took place at Nonington on Saturday 13th October. The Kent league attracts many of Kent’s top middle and long distances runners, and as such the level of competition is always high.
Medway Phoenix had six athletes competing in what was a testing course, in unusually warm conditions for the cross country season.
In the U13 Girls race, we had four athletes competing over the 3,000m course with Josie Bassett finishing 31st in 13:58 despite being knocked over not long after the start, Jemima Partner finished 38th in 14:24, Evie Webb 58th in 15:30 and Nia Thomas 61st in 16:38.
In the U15 Girls race Medway Phoenix had just one athlete competing over the 4,000m course, with Ella Webb finishing 37th in 19:03, in her first year of moving up to the U15 category.
Our sole Male representative was Isaac Thomas who competed in the U17 Men’s race over 5,000m. This was Isaac’s first year in the U17 category and he ran strongly throughout to finish in 30th place in 20:10.
Well done to all of our athletes who took part.
