Well done to all the Medway Phoenix athletes who competed for their schools at the Medway Schools cross country event at Capstone on Thursday. There were some great results by the whole team.
The day started with the year 7 girls and boys races. In the year 7 girls race all 3 of the Medway Phoenix athletes finished in the top 15, with great performances from Roxie Smith 5th, Evie Webb 6th and Nia Thomas 15th. In the year 7 boys race Cheynne West finished strongly to finish 12th. With all four athletes qualifying for the Kent Schools Cross Country event in January.
In the year 8/9 girls race Medway phoenix athletes made up an impressive 4 of the top 10 places with Josie Bassett 4th, Jemima Partner 6th, Alice Gyde 8th, and Amira Thomas 10th – all four athletes qualifying for the next stage.
Isaac Thomas finished an excellent 2nd place in the year 10/11 boys race, continuing the good form he has shown throughout the summer track season and recent training sessions.
In the Year 10/11 girls race Katelyn Jarvis managed to finish 22nd despite the recurrence of an ankle injury during the race. Sheer determination and resilience got her to the finish line to score for her school team.
Congratulations to all our athletes who took part.
